This is my first blog post ever so here we go… Hey y’all, here is a picture of me (Heidi) at Seattle VegFest 2015. This was Punk Rawk Labs‘ second year at Seattle VegFest and it was totally nuts (haha we make nutmilk cheese – get it?). We gave out around 8,000 samples. Big shout out and thank you to Way Better Snacks and Edward and Sons. They both donated their awesome chips and crackers for sampling the cheese. It was super fun to meet lots of cool people and check out a bunch of awesome products.
Here were some of the coolest products/swag that I picked up on the few forays I was able to make away from the craziness of the PRL sample table.
1. Blue Lotus Chai – I love chai. But man, it’s kind of a high maintenance drink to make. Especially now that I have a 3 year old running around the house I have to streamline my mornings. Blue Lotus Chai is soooo delicious! It’s a gluten-free, vegan dried black tea powder with all organic spices. All you do is mix in a scoop of the powder with some warm water and milk of choice. I make mine extra spicy with extra almond milk and some raw honey….aaahhhh.
2.Firefly Kitchens – Our fermentation friends! How I love Seattle based firefly kitchens products. I have had all of their sauerkrauts and love them but now they have totally BLOWN ME AWAY with their new products – a Probiotic Tonic. What is that? you ask. Well…it’s the amazingly delicious brine from the fermentation of their sauerkrauts! Holy moly, I have sucked down three of these already and my son totally loves them saying that when he takes a sip they “tickle his nose”. They are super delish with a briny zing that makes my mouth salivate and my stomach feel great! ps- they are free of all the typical allergens like gluten, diary, soy and contain something like a bgillion probiotics in them. (that is the technical term – bgillion)
3.Vtopian Artisan Vegan Cheeses – Chive and Dill – Well, of course, we had to hang out with Imber from Vtopian because she is just Rad! After trying the Caramelized Onion, Maple Seitan Ball, Peppercorn Brie and the Chive and Dill we had to trade for some Chive and Dill action. My son and husband have been hoovering it down!
4. Camano Island Mills – Purple Sunrise gourmet breakfast cereal – This whole grain gluten free warm breakfast cereal was created by the company’s owner for her daughter who has food sensitivities. It is an almond base with forbidden rice, chia and other gluten free grains. It’s also vegan and GMO free. The best part it tastes awesome and has a crazy beautiful purple color!
5. Liefie’s Coconut Milk Caramel Sauce – Salted – The sweet owner of this Portland based company uses coconut milk to make a super creamy caramel sauce. No high fructose corn syrup, totally vegan and gluten- free! Well really what more needs to be said? Oh yeah, it’s stupid good.
6. Barnana – dried banana snacks – These quick and easy chewy banana bites come in three flavors plain, chocolate and peanut butter. They are organic too!
All in all Seattle VegFest 2015 was pretty awesome and now that Punk Rawk Labs Nutmilk Cheese can be found in the Seattle area at PCCs, Central Co-op, Vegan Haven, The Tummy Temple and The Olympia Co-op we had a really good response from all the attendees. Thanks Vegetarians of Washington and see you again next year!
